For the 2002 model year, Pontiac has introduced a Grand Prix 40th Anniversary version for its GT and GTP Coupe and Sedan models. Some of the special appointments that set the 40th Anniversary Grand Prix apart on the road include: A unique hood and rear spoiler, dual-dual exhaust system, roof fences that mirror the production carÂ’s NASCAR cousin, special wheels and two-tone Dark Cherry paint. For the 2001 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, the Grand Prix 40th Anniversary edition was tricked out as the Grand Prix GP40, with GM Accessories provided by General MotorsÂ’ Service Parts Operations (SPO). "The Grand Prix GP40 show car offers absolute performance, with no sacrifices," said Jerome Thiebaud, Pontiac Grand Prix assistant brand manager-product. "ItÂ’s a showcase for the kinds of performance engine parts, as well as chassis and suspension components and other items, that GM Accessories is making available for current GM products." The GM Accessories-provided vehicle-lowering package consists of new front and rear adjustable springs, adjustable front and rear dampers and 17-inch Z-rated tires riding on forged aluminum wheels. There are also GM Accessories-provided performance brake pads, and drilled and slotted brake rotors, front and rear.
